Arml-Nysml Contests 1989-1994 (Contests in Mathematics Series Volume 2)
Published in Paperback by Mathpro Pr (March, 1995)
Average review score:

one of the best high school math contests in the countryARML is sort of an all-star math contest; the best math students from each region are put onto teams, then go to the national competition. Some of the questions are solved individually; some are worked on cooperatively by the team; some are short-answer; some require detailed proofs. The quality of the question writing is superb. This book is an attractive presentation of several years worth of questions. It's ideal for a local math team or teacher to mine for practice problems or for anyone to read for insight! (bias: I'm a coach for an ARML team)

The Art of Profound Meditation
Published in Paperback by La Chevre D'Or Press (November, 2001)
Average review score:

Getting to mental quietness and "being"Fresh and enlightening, "The Art of Profound Mediation" is a trip through the art of meditation for everyone from the beginner to the experienced intermediate practitioner. In a very easy writing style that walks the reader through the philosophy as well as the techniques, anyone can learn to quiet their mind and achieve deeper, more profound meditation. The most common complaint of people new to meditation is that they just cannot seem to quiet the thoughts in their mind so that they can reach deep and profound levels of just "being". This book guides the reader through basic techniques that are easy to master with regular practice and can help them reach the point of peace where they can celebrate just "being". A recommended read.

Astrology Disproved
Published in Hardcover by Prometheus Books (November, 1977)
Average review score:

Astrology has indeed been disprovedOnce a believer of astrology and the efficacy this psuedoscience claimed to have on the world, I found relief in Lawrence Jerome's ground-breaking book. He takes the complex maze of astrology and points out how astrologers have used its dead-end pathways as a mere source of power and control. Jerome debunks the premises of astrology's claims from every angle, including the real effects of planets on the earth; how astrology was created as a tool for power; the lack of cause and effect between astrology and personality; how the esotericism of astrology makes it only "seem" real and effectual. Anyone who is attracted to the complexity of this psuedoscience, or who is needing to break free from its limits, will find this book helpful. The writing is easy to understand and the research is responsible; in fact, the research easily shows astrology to be nothing modern society knows it to be.

Atlas of global strategy
Published in Unknown Binding by Macmillan ()
Average review score:

Bear v. EagleThis book was printed in the mid-1980s as a primer on military strategy for students of the pending Cold War. Anyone who owns this has, inadvertently, purchased themselves a wonderful piece of history, especially if you still have the maps on the dust-jacket featuring the two sides' encroachment on each other. There are sections on nuclear technolgogy, wars of "liberation," the arms market, European deployment, biochemical warfare, air and naval power at a time when the B-2 was only just deployed and stealth technology was just a twinkle in Caspar Weinberger's eye. While the strategic studies institutes have moved on, Cold War histories are burgeoning, and it will not be long before a book like this gets issued (or re-issued) so that readers will be able to understand what the battle of the superpowers meant (and how lucky we are that it is no longer underway).

Guide to the first official interpretations of canon law. This slim volume documents and explains the first 24 official interpretations (answers) given by the Vatican to questions which have arisen under the 1983 Code of Canon Law. Wrenn is a nationally respected canon lawyer who makes sense of the cumbersome process by which canonical interpretation issues are resolved. The Ax Book: The Lore and Science of the Woodcutter
Published in Paperback by Alan C Hood & Co (January, 2000)
Average review score:

The best introduction to the subject currently available.Throughout recorded time, the ax has been a principle tool for carving out from the wilderness the homes, farms, and roads so necessary to the advance of civilization. Even today, those who use chainsaws and other power equipment still need to be familiar with the hand tools of their craft. In many situations, only a hand-ax will suffice for the felling of trees, the rough shaping of lumber, the creation of firewood, and clearing out the nooks and crannies of forested areas for other purposes -- including the planting of new trees. Cook's The Ax Book is an ideal "how to" manual of instruction enhanced with the illustrations of Whipple to provide what is simply the best introductory guide to the subject available to readers today. The Ax Book is a "must" for anyone needing to use a hand ax for any purpose, under any circumstances.

Baby Loves Hugs and Kisses

baby DOES love hugs and kisses!i was looking for a book for my one year old when i came across this book.In the space of a week he had started to respond to the different scenarios in the book by laughing and giggling. My one year old has a developmental delay and i have sucessfully used this book to get him to identify words with sounds. Each and every scenario in this book is familiar to him. From babys bed time to baby hugging and kissing his sister. I recommend this book to anybody who has a baby especially one with a speech and language developmental delay as it is a great help in beginning to share information and communicate with your child.
